  4. Choose an Editing Tool: Use the bottom navigation bar to switch between Adjust, Filter, Crop, Retouch, and Special Tools.
  5. Preview Your Edits: Pinch to zoom into fine details or tap and hold the preview canvas to toggle between your current adjustments and the original unedited photograph.
  6. Save or Export: Tap Export in the top-right corner to save your finished photograph in your device's Pictures or DCIM gallery folder.

Edit & Enhance Your Photos

The Adjust panel provides direct manual control over the optical exposure, tone mapping, and chromatic balance of your photograph. All adjustments are non-destructive, meaning you can adjust or reset any parameter until you export.

Available Manual Controls

Brightness
Adjusts the overall global lightness across the entire tonal range.
Contrast
Controls the tonal separation between shadow tones and bright highlight areas.
Exposure
Simulates camera sensor exposure compensation for over- or underexposed shots.
Saturation
Uniformly scales the intensity of all colors from monochrome to vivid.
Vibrance
Intelligently boosts muted colors while protecting natural skin tones from over-saturation.
Highlights & Shadows
Recovers detail blown out in bright skies or lifts crushed details in dark shadows.
Temperature & Tint
Corrects white balance shifts between warm amber/cool blue and green/magenta.
Sharpness & Clarity
Enhances micro-contrast and edge definition without creating artificial noise rings.

Recommended Editing Order

For natural and balanced results, follow this professional sequence:

  1. Correct basic Exposure and recover blown Highlights.
  2. Lift Shadows and set overall Contrast.
  3. Adjust Temperature and Tint to correct white balance.
  4. Add subtle Vibrance rather than heavy Saturation.
  5. Apply moderate Clarity and fine Sharpness at 100% zoom.

Creative Photo Filters

Restovue features an extensive library of artistic presets crafted to give your images distinct aesthetic moods with one touch. Each preset applies calibrated curves, LUTs, and color matrices that can be blended seamlessly.

Filter Categories

  • Natural & Clean: Subtly corrects daylight and skin tones for crisp everyday photography.
  • Vivid & Emerald: Enhances outdoor landscapes, foliage, and blue skies.
  • Monochrome & Noir: High-contrast black-and-white tonal studies reminiscent of classic film stocks.
  • Cinematic & Teal: Hollywood-inspired split toning with rich warm highlights and deep teal shadows.
  • Golden Hour & Warm: Infuses portraits and sunsets with a soft ambient golden glow.
Adjusting Filter Strength: After tapping any filter thumbnail, use the horizontal intensity slider (0% to 100%) to dial in the exact amount of effect you want without overpowering the photo.

Crop, Rotate & Resize

Precision composition tools let you frame your subject, correct crooked horizons, and resize images for social media, print formats, or application portals.

Standard Aspect Ratios

1:1 Square
Ideal for profile avatars and square social media feeds.
4:3 & 3:2 Photography
Classic DSLR and medium-format ratios for standard prints.
16:9 Widescreen
Landscape banner and monitor wallpaper framing.
9:16 Vertical Story
Optimized for vertical smartphone screens and reels.
Cropping vs. Resizing: Cropping removes outer pixels to change the framing of an image. Resizing changes the total pixel dimensions of the entire image while preserving the current crop. Enlarging a low-resolution picture will not automatically regenerate missing optical data.

Retouch & Heal

The Retouch tool removes minor blemishes, dust specks, stray hairs, and distracting sensor spots by synthesizing surrounding color and texture data seamlessly into the target area.

  1. Pinch with two fingers to zoom in closely on the imperfection.
  2. Set the brush size slightly larger than the mark you want to remove.
  3. Dab or use short, gentle strokes over the spot. Restovue blends the patch with nearby textures.
  4. If the surrounding texture is irregular, use multiple smaller dabs rather than one large continuous stroke.

Clone Stamp Tool

When automatic healing cannot match a complex repeating pattern (such as brickwork, water ripples, foliage, or architectural lines), the Clone Stamp gives you exact manual control by sampling pixels from a source region and painting them over a target area.

  1. Tap the Source Target icon and place the sampling reticle over an undamaged area that matches the desired lighting and texture.
  2. Adjust the brush diameter and edge softness slider.
  3. Paint over the target region. The source reticle moves in lockstep, copying the sampled pixels into place.
  4. Vary the source point frequently to prevent repeating visual patterns.

Background Editing

Isolate your main subject to blur noisy backdrops, swap in solid studio colors for professional portraits, or export transparent PNG cutouts for marketing collages.

PNG vs. JPEG for Transparency: To maintain a transparent cutout background without white borders, always export your result as PNG. The JPEG format does not support transparency and will automatically fill transparent areas with solid white.

Add Text & Creative Elements

Personalize photos with captions, date stamps, decorative borders, and creative stickers. You can customize font weight, letter spacing, alignment, drop shadows, and opacity.

Batch Photo Editing

Batch mode allows you to apply common operations across dozens of photos at once—ideal for event photographers, product listings, or resizing vacation albums before sharing.

Device Memory Considerations: Processing many high-resolution photos simultaneously consumes significant RAM and battery. On phones with 4 GB of RAM or less, we recommend processing images in batches of 15 to 25 photos at a time for optimal stability.

Image Compression & Conversion

Large camera photos (often 5 to 15 MB) frequently exceed file-size limits on government portals, job applications, and university exam registrations. Restovue's offline compression engine optimizes quantization tables to reduce file sizes dramatically while preserving sharp text and facial clarity.

How to Reduce a Photograph to a Specific KB Size

Example scenario: An online portal requires your passport photo or signature under 200 KB.

  1. Open Restovue and tap Compress & Convert.
  2. Select the photograph from your device storage.
  3. Choose your desired output format (JPEG is recommended for photographic images; PNG for flat graphics).
  4. Tap Target File Size and enter 180 KB (targeting slightly below the portal's hard limit guarantees safe submission).
  5. Tap Start Compression. Restovue computes the optimal dimensions and encoding rate.
  6. Review the resulting file size and tap Save.

Special Photo Utilities

Passport & ID Photos

Prepare compliant passport and visa photos directly on your phone. Preset guidelines show exact head height boundaries (50% to 69% of image height) and standard dimensions (such as 2×2 inches for US Visa, 35×45 mm for Schengen, or Indian passport standards).

Document Cleanup

Turn smartphone snapshots of receipts, book pages, certificates, and whiteboards into clean, high-contrast, easily readable documents by correcting perspective distortion and neutralizing uneven background shadows.

HDR Merge

Combine multiple exposure-bracketed photographs (underexposed for bright highlights, normal, and overexposed for dark shadows) into a single composite frame with extended dynamic range.

Panorama Stitching

Stitch a sequence of overlapping landscape or architectural photos into a seamless wide-angle panorama with automated exposure smoothing along boundary seams.

Grid Collages

Assemble multiple pictures into structured grid layouts with customizable spacing, corner rounding, and frame colors.

Export & Sharing

Save your edited images in JPEG, PNG, or WebP formats with full resolution retention, or share them directly to WhatsApp, Gmail, Drive, or social media apps via the Android native share sheet.

Perspective Correction & Keystone Straightening

Architectural photos, document scans, and angled street captures often suffer from keystoning—where vertical lines converge due to phone tilt. Restovue's 4-point homography engine lets you restore true geometric proportions with millimeter precision.

How to Correct Perspective

  1. Open the photo in the editor and select Geometry > Perspective.
  2. Drag the four corner pins to align with natural rectangular landmarks in the image (such as window frames, doorways, or signboard edges).
  3. Use the Fine Straighten Slider (-45° to +45° with 0.1° accuracy) to level the horizon.
  4. Tap Apply Homography. Restovue projects the quad into a true rectangular frame and auto-crops empty corner gaps.
Pro Tip: For high-rise architecture, place the top pins along the outer corners of the roofline and the bottom pins at the foundation corners. The algorithm automatically corrects vertical camera keystoning without resampling softness.

Stickers, Graphic Badges & Creative Frames

Add decorative borders, social media badges, geometric shapes, and vintage polaroid frames to photographs without external assets. All shapes render vector-crisp at any output resolution.

Available Creative Overlays

Film & Polaroid Borders
Classic retro photo borders with caption space and authentic edge wear.
Geometric Annotations
Rectangles, circles, directional arrows, and speech bubbles for tutorials.
Curated Sticker Pack
Handcrafted badges, stamps, emoji stickers, and seasonal accents.
Layer Hierarchy Controls
Reorder layers, adjust opacity, and lock positions on the multi-layer canvas.

Liquify, Warp & Shape Sculpting

The offline Liquify engine enables organic pixel displacement for subtle portrait refinements, fabric adjustments, and creative artistic distortion using pressure-sensitive mesh deformations.

Sculpting Brush Modes

Push / Smudge
Gently nudges pixels in the direction of your finger swipe.
Pinch / Shrink
Compresses pixels inward toward the brush center.
Expand / Bloat
Inflates pixels outward from the brush center for volume.
Twirl & Restore
Rotates pixels clockwise or restores altered areas back to original.
Best Practices: Use low brush density (20–40%) and smaller brush radii for natural portrait touch-ups. Over-distorting can stretch high-frequency background details.

Target KB Size Precision Compression

Government visa portals, university applications, employment boards, and email systems often mandate strict maximum file limits (e.g. "under 50 KB", "under 100 KB", or "max 200 KB"). Restovue's iterative binary-search encoder calculates the exact compression curve required to hit your file size constraint without unnecessary degradation.

How to Compress to an Exact File Size

  1. Select Utilities > Target Size from the home screen or editor export menu.
  2. Choose a quick preset (50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB) or type a custom kilobyte threshold.
  3. Restovue's local encoder simulates multiple quantization matrices in memory to find the maximum possible quality that fits strictly under your target.
  4. Tap Save Compressed Photo. The file is saved directly to your device storage.
Important Limitation: Because digital images contain varying levels of visual entropy and noise, an exact byte count match cannot always be guaranteed. Restovue guarantees output at or strictly below your target limit, maintaining maximum visual fidelity within that threshold.

Multi-Format Image Conversion (JPEG, PNG, WebP)

Convert individual photos or entire folders between modern raster image formats completely offline, with full control over compression, alpha transparency, and color profile retention.

Supported Output Formats
